Tasting Notes: Brol Grande is a purple-tinged ruby red in the glass. This blend of Corvina and Rondinella is rich, with a complex bouquet with notes of sour cherry and blueberry, and spicy nuances of cinnamon and black pepper, due to the Corvina grape. The one year barrel time helped the development of the wine which is more full than Bardolino. On the finish it is long and spicy.
Estate History: Matilde Poggi has been making elegant wines in Veneto since 1984. She grew up around her family's vines and when the estate was split up in the 1980’s she took her land and instead of continuing to sell the grapes to other growers, began making her own wines in Bardolino on the southern shores of Lake Garda. Certified organic since 2009, Matilde is also a part of the FIVI brand, the federation group representing Italian Independent Winegrowers that work solely on their own production: they grow their vines, they vinify their grapes, they bottle their wines which they sell directly.
