Estate History: The Tenuta di Trinoro estate was founded in the early 1990s by the late Andrea Franchetti, who, after a career in New York, decided to return to Italy and plant vineyards in the remote, beautiful Val d'Orcia region near Sarteano in southeastern Tuscany. Inspired by the wines of Bordeaux, particularly the Right Bank, Franchetti focused heavily on cultivating French varietals like Cabernet Franc and Merlot in an area previously unknown for them.
