Tasting Notes: The color on the Ronchi di Cialla Pignolo has an arrestingly dark ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is Warm and vinous, like walking into a cabin after a snowy hike in the woods. Ripe red fruits prevail with pleasantly spicy and balsamic notes. The mouth-feel is full and voluminous with soft tannins and a balanced acidity; with a very long finish.
Estate History: The Ronchi di Cialla winery was founded by Dina and Paolo Rapuzzi in 1970. With the help of Bernardo Bruno, the mayor of Prepotto, the Rapuzzi's found a small plot of forgotten native Schioppettino vines. The Cialla estate took cuttings from the best shoots and cultivated a vineyard of 3,500 vines. The first vintage of their Schioppettino was released in 1977. Now, more than forty years later, Schioppettino has regained popularity, thanks in large part to the Cialla estate.
