Tasting Notes: The wines of Château Feuillet are made in the dramatic mountain landscape of the Valle d’Aosta in northwestern Italy. This alpine white is lean, crisp and nervy, with bright citrus tones and a delicate underlying minerality.
Estate History: Nestled in the smallest, most northern part of Italy in the region of Valle D’Aosta is the Château Feuillet winery. The geographic and cultural influence is greatly noted in the French name on the label which is derived from the linguistic overlap of the French-Swiss-Italian border. The estate is currently about three hectares and is in the Western Alps within the sub-zone of Torrette. Château Feuillet was founded by Maurizio Fiorano in 1997 but the estate’s origin is of Maurizio’s wife's grandfather who left the land to her after his passing. After their marriage, Maurizio, originally from Turin, moved to his wife’s hometown of Saint Pierre in Valle d’Aosta where she operated a small Inn. With the change in scenery and their family growing, Maurizio found himself searching for a new calling. The inheritance of a vineyard led to Maurizio’s initial idea to produce wines solely to sell at the restaurant of the inn but shortly after producing his first vintage he made the trip to VinItaly to showcase the wines and was introduced to what could come from this newly acquired life.
