Tasting Notes: The Ada Nada "Elisa" Barbaresco Rombone is known for its complex and age-worthy profile, exhibiting concentrated aromas of red rose, wild berry, cherry, plum, and hints of pipe tobacco or balsam herb. On the elegant, full-bodied palate, a core of vibrant red fruit and spice notes like star anise and clove is framed by firm, well-integrated, and noble tannins, with fresh acidity providing balance and a long, linear finish. This transparent expression of Nebbiolo speaks to its specific vineyard site and traditional winemaking, rewarding those who choose to cellar it for some years to allow its structured elements to soften and integrate further.
Estate History: The Ada Nada winery is a family-run estate with a rich history spanning over a century, established in 1919 by Carlo Nada in the Rombone cru in what was then the district of Barbaresco. Succeeding generations, including his son Giovanni and grandson Gian Carlo, an oenologist, continued the family tradition, with Gian Carlo and his wife Ada injecting new vitality and innovation. The estate is currently managed by the fourth generation, Anna Lisa Nada and her husband Elvio Cazzaro, who oversee the nine hectares of vineyards located in the esteemed Rombone and Valeirano sub-zones within the commune of Treiso. They maintain a commitment to traditional methods, including hand-harvesting and aging in large oak barrels ("botte"), producing wines that reflect the complexity and character of their Langhe terroir.
