From Chianti to Bolgheri to Vino Nobile and Montalcino, there is a plethora of great wines to explore. This week we start with Chianti! The wines of Chianti represent some of our favorites from all of Italy. These vinous icons are not just the gateway to Italian wine for many, but represent some of the greatest values in wine today. Chianti Classico is the most famous, and has been produced in Toscana since the thirteenth century, but there are several other regional Chianti worthy of our attention. Chianti Rufina, Chianti Colli Aretini, Chianti Colli Fiorentini, Chianti Colli Senesi, Chianti Colline Pisane, Chianti Montalbano and Chianti Montespertoli round out the selection of these indelible Italian sangiovese-based reds. |
